Review: Tantus Rumble

Juliet:

By any other name would smell as sweet.”

Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

Juliet, you’re wrong, babe. A lot is in a name, Juliet. A LOT. They can be misleading! They can get your hopes up! They can lead you astray and disappoint you!

Anyway, I tried the Tantus Rumble and wanted it to be rumbly. It wasn’t.

Let’s start with the good stuff. It’s super light. I do like the shape of it, and the shape plus the weight makes it easier to hold than some other wands (cough Doxy wand cough). It’s rechargeable, splash proof, and the silicone head is removable for easy cleaning. You can also purchase extra accessories for the Rumble to convert the head to something you can use internally. I haven’t tried those, but they’re reasonably priced at ~$20 USD.

The Rumble is also a breath of fresh air when it comes to many vibrators on the market in terms of presentation. I am sick and tired of the whole “battery operated boyfriend” or “dirty little secret” play. Vibrators are not replacements for partners, nor are they shameful. They’re not only for women, or folks with a vulva and vagina. The Rumble isn’t marketed towards any specific gender or body, which is nice.

It’s also got a flat, hockey puck lookin’ head, which is great if you want broader stimulation. I like my vibrators to be a little more pinpoint than that, but many people prefer broad, so that’s not a mark against this toy. It’s got 7 different speeds, and while it’s by no means a whisper quiet toy, it is reasonably quiet and likely wouldn’t be heard through the bedroom door if you had some background music on.

Now for the not-so-good-stuff. It’s called the Rumble and it’s unbearably buzzy. I don’t know why I’m so hung up on this, but I am. My clit isn’t even really that discerning; I don’t mind a cheap bullet now and then. The moment I pulled this toy out of the box, my partner took one look at it and said, “I think that’s gonna be too buzzy for you”. Now, he is by no means a connoisseur of sex toys, so I don’t know what made him think that, but boy howdy was he right. It starts buzzy and just gets buzzier as you increase in intensity, unfortunately.

That said, if you like broad stimulation, need something lightweight, and don’t have particularly picky genitalia, the Rumble could be a good option for you! It’s available at SheVibe for $124 USD, at the time of this post.
